It's A Small World After All...

No, I'm not in Disneyworld. Although we did go there one year on Boxing Day and stayed for a week, which was an experience. Interesting, fun, but crowded.
So how was your Christmas? I'm currently stretched out on the couch in front of a roaring fire, still digesting turkey, stuffing, cassava pie and Christmas pudding. Yes, that was yesterday. I ate a lot.
The wind is howling and we have more rain on the way. I suppose I should be grateful it's not snow.
Who's getting hit with that blizzard on the east coast?
Since we're coming into the new year, I suppose I really should wax poetic about new year's resolutions and the like...but I don't feel up to it. I mean, eventually at some point this week I may make mention of the fact that we have a new year approaching, but tonight I'm really fascinated by a new feature I put on my blog a while back.
If you scroll down a bit, look for the spinning globe.
It's my latest obsession. I mean really, how cool is it that I can see exactly where everyone in the world who happens to click on my blog is from? It's amazing! I'm even seeing places on there that I didn't know existed, let alone had internet. I really wish everyone who visited would leave a comment though - then I'd really learn more about the places you're coming from. But I've really enjoyed watching all those little red dots come up on the globe - if you click on the button on it, you can expand it to a still and that's where you can hover over all the dots and it gives you everyone's locations.
I love how the internet has connected us all - when I look at this image, I gain a better understanding of what global community really means. And as I get to know people through blogging, I find that we're not so different after all. There's a thing called the law of seven - have you heard of it? It's something like one in seven people will somehow be connected through someone else - I think. I've found it to be true many times. Sometimes it's crazy just how small the world is.
So here's my request - if you've happened onto my blog, tell me who you are and where you're from. You don't need to give me your precise address, don't worry, I won't come knocking on your door asking for money.
I'm just curious.
I like to know who I'm talking to.
So my door's open. Come on in. Let's chat.

Sitting by the fire digesting turkey sounds like an excellent place to be! I'm from Oregon, far away from that terrible east coast storm!

Hi Cathy,
I'm from Ajax, but currently commenting from work in Toronto, but you knew that. The globe thingie is cool. I gotta figure how to put that on my blog, too.
We're into leftovers after three days of feasting. Yes,rain is better than snow, although there is none to speak of here. Happy New Year! Pia

HI Cathy, I'm at the very eastern tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If I stand on our beach and look out over the water (I mean ice!) I can see Canada.
