What Are you Reading?

Yes, it's that time of year again! I'm stocking up on reading material for the summer!
So do you have any recommendations for me? Anything you've read lately that just left you breathless by the end of it? I'd love your suggestions - I read in both CBA and ABA so give me what you've got! I probably won't read any sci fi though, and maybe not historical but it depends. If the book is highly recommended I will give it a try!
At the moment I'm trying to finish The Paris Wife. It's okay, but I'm not really into it, and I'm stumbling over all the dialogue tags, which funnily enough I didn't notice at the start of the book. Then I finished editing a manuscript and bam, they're all over the place and driving me nuts. Honestly, if you can't find a way not to say 'he said' or 'she said', that is just lazy writing in my opinion. Anyway...I digress.
So lets talk books today! What are you reading?

At the moment I'm reading James Patterson's Judge & Jury, but about to start a Lynette Eason novel, Too Close to Home.

Currently I'm reading books for the Carol Awards, so I can't list titles, but I've read some great books.

Hubby and my boys bought me a Kindle for Mother's Day. Once my contest reading is done, I'm going to go through the 200 books downloaded on my Kindle. I just downloaded The Help in audiobook format. I can listen to that in the car or while I'm cleaning.

Anything by Susan May Warren--her latest Love Inspired Suspense series Missions of Mercy is terrific. The latest in her Deep Haven series, My Foolish Heart, is terrific.

Anything by Rachel Hauck--her LowCountry Romance series is my favorite.

Anything by Ronie Kendig. I love her Discarded Heroes series.

Anything by Sibella Giorello--she writes in first person and her word painting is gorgeous. She writes the Raleigh Harmon series--romantic suspense.

I love Denise Hunter's books too.

If you like faster, sweet romances, check out the Love Inspired authors. Linda Goodnight is fabulous, along with Ruth Logan Herne...I could go on and on about those LI authors.

Great post, Cathy. I could be here all day though listing books. :)

I just finished Jim Rubart's "Book of Days" and loved it. One of my all time favorites is "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana DeRosnay. It's secular but one of the best books Ive read.

I also have a stack to read this summer. Im not good at making the time to do it!
Happy reading.

Broken Wings by Carla Stewart. She's a wonderful writer.

I also recently read The Outside Boy and fell in love.

I'm reading Yesterday's Tomorrow. I have a hunch you've heard of it. ;-) I can't wait for my next installment because things are not going well for poor Kristin and Luke. I'll be starting the Homecoming section tonight.

I just finished, The Preacher's Bride, by Jody Hedlund. Lovely book!

I have been looking around for something new to read. I got a few good suggestions here in your comments.

Okay, I confess to this guilty pleasure - I've been reading the Louise Penny Inspector Gamache novels one after the other. Not like they'll leave you breathless, but they are like Miss Marple but set in Canada in this village that is so charming I want to live there! And her descriptions of food make me delirious. They are like snuggly up with your blanky in a comfy chair on a rainy day, with a nice cup of tea. And a croissant. With butter and jam.

Ooh ooh - just saw that Jan mentioned Sarah's Key - thumbs up from me on that one too.

I just finished Ronie Kendig's Wolfsbane, book 3 in her Discarded Heroes Series...excellent, as were the first two!!! Also ANY of Lynette Eason's Women of Justice Series books...awesome! Can you tell I love suspense? I love Regency Era books too, but you said no historical ;) But, if you were going to read historical I would recommend Julie Klassen or Siri Mitchell.
Have a great summer reading!

I am itching to get to my 'Summer Reading' stack! Right now I am finishing up NEVER WITHOUT HOPE by Michelle Sutton. I also have a couple of others that I am reading for review purposes. but what I really REALLY need to do is get some good spec/Sci-fi into my life! this is my true love in terms of genre and I miss it with all the romance I seem to reading lately ... :)

This summer I am knee deep in books - couldn't be better right? I am reading my way through the Women's Murder Club series from James Patterson, checking out my first steampunk book ever - The Girl in the Steel Corset and wanting to read some really soft Teen Fiction like Sarah Dessen. I am so excited to finally read the third installment of Passions by Lauren Kate! And so much more. Great post!! Thanks

Great suggestions, thanks everyone! One thing I hate is when I download a book and don't end up finishing it so I love getting recommendations. I have heard of Sarah's Key, definitely want to read that. I might give Hunger Games a try because of the buzz, but I don't think it'll be my cup of tea.
Check back later for my Memorial Day posts!

Hi Cathy

I love to see what other folk are reading, so have enjoyed reading the comments today.

I've just finished "Words Unspoken" by Elizabeth Musser- an excellent read which I recommend highly. All of her books are good reads.
