Found Him!

Okay, this is pretty funny. I'm actually going to post this under Lame.
But I'd love to hear from other writers as to whether you too classify as completely nuts, or if it's just me.
Jenness, don't answer that!!
A scene in my ms. Yesterday's Tomorrow has Kristin and Luke discussing what they will do when they leave Vietnam.
Kristin asks, "What's normal after Vietnam?"
I'm asking the same thing.
What's normal after finishing a manuscript that's taken up 99.9% of your life for longer than you can remember?
What do you do?
Well, work on the next thing, duh.
Okay, but in the meantime, I decided to give myself a couple of days to play.
Every once in a while I will hunt celebrity pages or photography sites to see if I can find people who I think come close
to looking like I imagine my characters do. If I'm the only one who does this, don't tell me!
Well, yesterday I found Luke. And I've been looking a while. You can ask Jenness. It's become obsessive. Yes, I realize I just answered the is she crazy question for you...
But, those of you who've read the story or some of it, what do you think? Yay or nay?
And he's an actor too, so when they make the movie...

Let me know your thoughts in the comments. And yes, if you think I'm nuts, you can tell me that too.

OK, I'll try to picture that face when I'm reading the MS. But I don't know. He's kinda pretty.

I guess it's a GOOD thing we all have different tastes, right???

However, I think everyone should have a "face" in mind when they write their novel! Great idea.

Cathy,

I have to say when I was reading YT, the actor you posted comes very close to my image of Luke. But the way I pictured him was a little more muscular with a more rugged face. But this really does come very close!

PRETTY? LOL. yeah, ok, I can see that. Something is not quite there...I don't think he looks dangerous enough, but he's still cute. I think Luke is cuter though! Sadly my husband does not want to give up doctoring for acting so he can't play Luke...hahaha, I had to say that.
Well this guy, Aaron Eckhart is about the closest I've come so far. I wonder how people actually feel when they get their story made into a movie - do the actors measure up to the mental picture in their minds? I was thinking of Brad Pitt, but then he's so cliche!! LOL.

I've read enough of your story to know this IS Luke, Cathy! (And please, ANYBODY but Brad Pitt!!) ; )

And Rachelle, put this guy in some fatigues, smudge his face, add a five o'clock shadow, and mess up his hair a little. Use your imagination, woman! LOL! ; )

HA! Deb, too funny. Yeah. I agree. Wonder if this poor guy's ears are ringing!

Okay, fine, you got me. From now on I won't try to have a different opinion!!!

I guess Deb's right... fatigues... okay... messy hair... got it. I may be an agent but I DO have at least a smidgen of a imagination.

You can have a different opinion, Rachelle. You'll just end up on crazy websites like Literary Rejects or whatever they call themselves!! Me, I'm open to any and all opinions. Just the fact that people are actually reading my blog makes me happy.
:0)
Takes a cute guy to draw a crowd I guess!

Cathy,
Your "lame" blog entry was hilarious. I've caught myself doing the same thing with my characters a time or two. I've also come up with ideas for new characters by doing this. Especially when I'm waiting for my hairdresser and I'm looking at some of those freakish coifs they have in their "What's Hot in Hair" style books.
It's a good imagination-building exercise, and if you're waiting with a friend, it can be great fun.

You are too funny, Cath! He's pretty close to how I would've pictured Luke -- just maybe needs to be a bit more broad-shouldered. I'm sure he'd be willing to bulk up a bit when he's offered the starring role based on your bestseller! :-)

I love to search for pictures of how I think my characters look. It makes them more real and makes it easier for me to get inside their heads. So if you're crazy to do this, I'm betting you have a lot of company. No wonder we all like each other!

First of all, you're not alone! We all do this! =) And yes this is a good Luke! Needs to be more rugged, yes, but this is a good base =)

Now I wanna see Kristin!!

I know I do it. I looked around the internet for pics and thought I'd found my characters. But the image of a married couple we know kept popping into my head. I finally asked the wife if I could have a picture of them. She thought it was cool. It's a little weird looking at their pictures every time I need to describe my characters (esp. since the guy is a real hottie - and the first time he came to my front door to see my husband I was speechless).

I know a lot of people who do just that, so you aren't crazy! And, I think he looks like a great hero.
Great idea.
