Some Updates!

It's FRIDAY!! Are we happy or what?! Actually I'm extremely happy this week, because my son is FINISHED high school! He's in the International Baccalaureate program, and they're done now, on study leave, with only exams left in May. It is going to be very strange not to have to live my life by the school calendar any longer. I'm not sure who's looking forward to that more, me or him! And incase you haven't been following me on Twitter or Facebook, I'm really excited to share that Chris has been accepted at The Berklee College of Music in Boston. Of course he's thrilled as this is his dream come true.
Sarah is doing great too - keeps promising me that her photography website will be up and running SOON - so as soon as she's finished her exams, I'm sure she'll get on that and then I'll share it with you. We're still trying to figure out our summer plans, but we're getting there.

As you can tell by my sporadic blog posts the last few weeks, I've been really busy. I had no idea marketing a book would be SO time consuming. But it's great. I have been given some wonderful encouragement this week from readers. One was profoundly affected in a spiritual way, and I'm so humbled that God would use my words to touch someone in that way - totally amazing. Another reader told me that they are now looking at Veterans in a whole new light. I got chills. That's just so much more than I could hope for. I've said many times already that I'm really not sure how or why I got the idea to write a book that takes place during The Vietnam War. I'm slowly beginning to understand that perhaps there was a greater purpose to it than I realized at the time.

I had my first radio appearance yesterday. It was fun. Nikita Robinson at our local Hott 107.5 was a blast to sit and talk to, and I'm really glad I got to meet her. I also met another radio personality, Thaao Dill, who was also super nice and we ended up talking music and now he and my son are chatting away about it because it's something they both love. Funny how life works to bring people together, huh? Another radio spot this morning, and then tomorrow is my Bermuda book signing at The Bookmart from 11-2. Hopefully it'll be fun. I'm not really nervous, but we'll see what tomorrow brings! As far as I can tell the book sales are going well abroad, so it would be nice to get the word out here in Bermuda. And in between all that fun stuff, I AM writing, I promise!!

So that's my update. Let me hear yours! What have you been up to lately?

First of all, I have to say that as soon as I saw the words "International Baccalaureate program" in this post, I knew I had to leave a comment!

Huge congratulations to your son!!! I graduated from high school 2 years ago with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, so I know just how much work it takes to make it to the end!! I've never regretted being in the program, though--it really helped prepare me for college, especially when it comes to papers and such. ;)

I hope all of his tests go well in May! I remember how overwhelming that last month of my senior year was! I had IB tests in Spanish, Math, English, History, Physics, etc., on top of AP tests in Calculus and Spanish...not to mention all that crazy paperwork! But I'm sure by now he's done with the Extended Essay, which is a huge relief to have finished! ;) (Although I was blessed to have done a paper on a topic that has to do with my manuscript, so I got to do research for my paper and my book at the same time!)

OK, I'm sorry this has been such a long post! My high school friends and I always joke that when we get together now we always have to meet to complain about IB. ;) And we usually choose to hangout at Starbucks, which was where we did a lot of our study sessions for IB!

Anyway, I'm going to start Yesterday's Tomorrow really soon, and I'm super excited about it!

God bless!

Thanks, Wendy! Yep the interviews went well but I didn't get to hear myself, which is probably just as well!!!

Amber that's so interesting because I know the IB hasn't really taken off in the US yet. Yes, it's been a grueling process but worth it I think. My daughter did it as well a few years ago. We'll be glad to see the back end of it, that's for sure! So happy you're going to be reading soon- feel free to put up any reviews anywhere you like!! LOL! And of course tell your entire community about the book!!
